The Hotton Caves: a subterranean jewel in Wallonia
Located in the heart of the Ourthe Valley, the Hotton Caves are among the most spectacular natural wonders in Belgium. Discovered in 1958, they are now recognized as an exceptional natural heritage site of Wallonia and are among the rare caves to be fully protected, earning two stars in the Michelin Guide.
A guided tour takes you more than 60 meters underground, along an impressive route through vast galleries shaped over thousands of years by natural erosion. You will discover a fascinating world of stalactites, stalagmites, draperies, and remarkable rock formations in a wide variety of shapes and colors.
The highlight of the visit? A mysterious underground river, known as the “river without a name,” whose crystal-clear waters flow through the heart of the rock. Some chambers are truly विशाल, offering a breathtaking natural spectacle.
The tour lasts about one hour and is accessible to everyone, making it an ideal activity for families or groups of friends. Combining exploration, geology, and wonder, the Hotton Caves offer a true journey to the center of the Earth.
